Day 1
On arrival at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by a Lion World Tours representative and transferred to the Nairobi Serena Hotel.

The Serena group is renowned for offering excellent hotel facilities throughout East Africa, and the Nairobi Serena is no exception. A member of the 'Leading Hotels of the World', the Serena enjoys a location on the edge of the Central Park and the City Center. Shaded by the glorious Jacaranda, Bougainvillea and Acacia trees and surrounded by lush manicured gardens, the hotel provides a peaceful and luxurious retreat to travelers, business people and famous dignitaries in a bustling city. The Serena is one of the finest hotels to stay in when in Nairobi.
Accommodation: Nairobi Serena Hotel
Day 2
Leave Nairobi after breakfast towards Nyeri and continue to your lodge located within Mount Kenya National Park. On arrival lunch is provided followed by the afternoon viewing wildlife from the observation decks.

Sailing like an ark amid the primeval forests of Kenya's highest mountain, Mount Kenya, Serena Mountain Lodge offers champagne-clear mountain air, sweeping views across the tree-canopy, sparkling trout streams, and gentle forest walks. Located on the lower slopes of the mountain, the lodge is cool, tranquil and hushed for optimum game-sightings. The open-air viewing-deck looks down on to its own water hole and salt-lick, which attracts numerous herds of elephant and buffalo. There is also a tunnel leading to a photo-hide, which offers spectacular viewing and photographic opportunities just metres away from the wildlife at the water hole.

Raised on stilts above the forest canopy, a timbered drawbridge leads from the forest and up on to the wooden 'decks' of the lodge. Inside, the impression of having boarded a ship is perpetuated by a combination of log panelled walls, timbered game-viewing decks and winding stairs leading to a selection of snugly comfortable, cabin-styled rooms.

This afternoon enjoy a Nature Walk. Later this evening, dinner is served followed by overnight.

Day 3
Leave the lodge after breakfast for Sweetwaters. Arrival at the Camp in time for lunch. Then depart for an afternoon game drive including a visit to the Chimp Sanctuary returning to the camp as the sun sets.

Sweetwaters Tented Camp lies in the heart of the private 24,000 acre/9,700 hectare Sweetwaters Game Reserve. Built in the early 70's, the main building was originally the residence of billionaire Adnan Kashoggi's ranch manager. The 30 luxuriously appointed en-suite tents have magnificent views across the plains to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya. Located in typical savannah grasslands, punctuated by the 'whistling thorn' shrubs and acacia trees, Sweetwaters really is an oasis. It offers guests the indulgence of a swimming pool, some of the finest tented accommodation in Kenya, with personalized service and attention to detail. At Sweetwaters there is plenty to see; Giraffe, zebra, eland, oryx, waterbuck, Grant's gazelle, Thompson's gazelle, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, lion, silver-backed jackals, ostrich, hartebeest, baboon and rhino are all present. There are also several hundred bird species to be observed. There is always a resident naturalist around to help you with your identifications.

The private game reserve is also home to the only Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Kenya. Most of the chimps came from the Jane Goodall Institute in Burundi, and the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary now cares for them as a non-profit making venture. Most of the chimps were rescued from the most appalling conditions and it is truly heart-warming to see them living in the riverine forest and savannah grasslands here.
Accommodation: Sweetwaters Tented Camp (B, L, D)
Day 4
Morning and afternoon game drives within the sanctuary, with time to relax at the camp. Take in some game viewing from the waterhole.

This afternoon during your game drive enjoy a "Bubbly" Sundowner at Marsh View Point.
Accommodation: Sweetwaters Tented Camp (B, L, D)
Day 5
Leaving Sweetwaters and Mount Kenya behind, head west to Nyahururu, still known to many as Thomson's Falls for its 237ft/72m cascade. Now travel in a southerly direction past Lake Nakuru, colored a shimmering flamingo pink from thousands of the beautiful birds lining its shores, and then on to Lake Elmenteita and the Soysambu Conservancy. Following lunch, there is an afternoon game drive in the nearby Lake Nakuru National Park returning to the camp as the sun sets.

Serena Lake Elmenteita Camp
This Luxury Camp is located on the Soysambu Conservancy, right on the shores of Lake Elementaita. Offering a blend of exclusivity and adventure, the new camp will comprise 25 luxury tents, a dining and lounge area, spa and swimming pool enjoying magnificent views of the Lake. Soysambu Conservancy is a wildlife sanctuary that offers uniqueness whilst boasting a broad range of wildlife and bird species. It is also home to the Rothschild giraffe and is East Africa's only breeding ground for the Great White Pelican.

While at the camp, enjoy a 1 hour Massage Treatment.

Day 6
After an early morning breakfast, drive to Narok town via Mai-Mahiu with a brief rest-stop, and then we proceed to Masai Mara arriving in time for lunch at a lodge. After lunch, depart for an afternoon game drive en route to Mara Serena Lodge arriving as the sun sets.

A masterful interpretation of a traditional Masai village, Mara Serena Safari Lodge seemingly floats on a sea of savannah. A beautiful pool looks out over the wide plains. The rooms are Masai-influenced in style yet extremely comfortable. The main dining room, where delicious meals are served, has three large domes and three small ones depicting Maasai manyattas (villages). Occasionally, an African al fresco barbecue is served by the pool overlooking the Mara plains. Fresh fruit juices and cocktails, wines, spirits or liqueurs are available at the bar until late in the evening. At Serena, the view are stunning. It is on this very terrain, stretching endlessly before the lodge, that the annual migrations take place. Millions of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle pass through on their way to and from their alternative feeding grounds in Tanzania.

Day 7
Early morning and afternoon game drives in the Masai Mara National Reserve.

The Masai Mara National Reserve is an extension of the world-renowned Serengeti National Park of Tanzania. Named for the Maasai tribespeople (the traditional inhabitants of the area) and the Mara River which divides it, the reserve is famous for its exceptional population of game and the annual migration of the wildebeest. Masai Mara offers wonderful scenery of breathtaking vistas, panoramas of vast rolling plains, and hills and woodland groves well watered by the lovely Mara River.

The waters of the Mara River are home to crocodiles and pools of hippo, while the woodlands and forests are favored by leopard and elephant. The open savannah areas play host to the plains' game. All of the "Big Five" - Lion, Rhino, Buffalo, Elephant and Leopard - are here, as well as cheetah, hippo, hartebeest, gazelle, topi, antelope, zebra and many other animals. The Mara is also noted for its abundance of lions - particularly the superb black maned males.

Today enjoy a Masai Cultural Lecture and Dance at the lodge.
Accommodation: Mara Serena Safari Lodge (B, L, D)
Day 8
After breakfast, depart the Masai Mara and head across acres of rolling wheat and barley farms to Narok, the district headquarters of this part of Maasailand. From here, cross the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley whilst keeping an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle before heading up the rift escarpment.

You will arrive in Kenya's bustling capital in the early afternoon. Once in the city, you will be dropped off at a city center hotel or Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your ongoing travel arrangements.
