The next morning you will take the courtesy shuttle to Johannesburg Airport for your South African Airways flight to Lusaka, Zambia where you will connect with your flight to Mfuwe. Arrive at Mfuwe Airport where you will be met by a Visit Southern Africa representative and then board your air charter flight to Lukusi. Upon arrival you will be driven to Tafika Camp (approx 2 hours by road).
Settle into your chalet at Tafika. Set on the banks of the Luangwa River you can admire the view and look for game that often roams in view of Camp.
Lunch is served buffet style with lots of fresh salads picked from the Camp garden.
Now will be the time to choose your afternoon activity perhaps a walk, drive or cycle, and there is also the opportunity to visit the local village. There's time for a siesta and perhaps a swing in a hammock before afternoon tea with homemade cake. Then it's time to begin your afternoon activity.
Afternoon walk: An afternoon walk lasts about 2 hours. Your guide will tell you about the indigenous plants, birds and animals that surround you. Usually walks begin by crossing the River in a canoe to reach the pristine walking area where there are no roads to follow just the game trails created by hippos, antelope and elephants. You will be accompanied by an armed scout and return to Camp at dusk for a sundowner.
Once you return to Camp, meet with other guests at the bar and share your game viewing tales. Enjoy dinner under the stars, and fall asleep to the lullaby of the bush.

Day 4
The next morning, you will be woken early and enjoy breakfast overlooking the River before enjoying a morning walk or drive. Maybe you will want to try an early morning microlight flight (usually available for an extra charge) gliding with the eagles. John, the pilot will point out the game which his trained eyes are expert at spotting. This will take place before your walk or drive leaves Camp so you don't miss out on your morning activity.
Return mid to late morning to freshen up before a delicious Tafika lunch and siesta. After tea it will be time to enjoy your afternoon activity before returning for another restful night's sleep.
Afternoon Drive: Drives take you through the Nsefu sector of South Luangwa National Park. Enjoy the golden late afternoon sunlight, a great time for photography. We take a stop for sundowners and then continue the drive with a spotlight searching for nocturnal animals.
We often combine visits to the village with an afternoon drive. The local children will sing to you and the teachers will tell you about the school. Remote Africa runs a fund which provides scholarships for students to go on to further education, and pays the salaries for some of the teachers. Visit the home of one of the staff and see how they prepare the maize meal that provides the staple diet for local families.
